Hey everyone! The Oscars are coming up and I saw 2 of the 10 Best Picture movies of this years and 1 from last year and 1 from the year before.
My first movie is Oscar nominated Best Picture 2010 "Inglorious Basterds". It tells the story of two plots to assassinate Nazi Germany's political leadership, one planned by a young French Jewish cinema proprietor and the other by a team of Jewish Allied soldiers led by Lieutenant Aldo Raine. This is one of those movies where you want to scream "wtf is going on?!" because the story was too long, 75% of the movie was in French or German so it should be classified as a Forign Film, and the acting is just terrible. I have no idea how it even got nominated for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor because both were alful. 1 1/2 stars and Save your money.
My second movie is Oscar nominated Best Picture 2010 "A Serious Man". It is about a man that has been going through alot between his wife filing for divorce to marry his best friend, his neighboor taking land owned by him, a sick brother, a son getting prepaired for his Bar Mitzfah, and his own school kids' troubles. This movie supprised me because critics loved it. This was a good movie and it really makes up from the Directos' (Joel and Ethan Coen) last dissapointment "No Country for Old Men". The ending sucked like Old Men's so I droped it to 4 stars and Rent it.
My third movie is Oscar nominated Best Picture 2009 "The Curious Case of Benjiman Button". It is about a boy named Benjiman Button that was born as if he was 75. He grows younger and younger while his best friend grows older and older. They meet up in age and have a child that he says he wont be good for because he will be 7 when shes 7. She does not learn this intill her mom is on her death bed and wants her to read his diary. This movie was SO good. The beginning draged on and it didn't really keep me ito it but when they got to the Brad Pitt stages, it was really perfect and I would not fall asleep because I wanted to know what happen to him. I stiil think "The Dark Knight" should of won for make up because it wasn't amazing in this and the joker was done great. I still give it 4 1/2 stars and Buy it!
My last movie is Oscar nominated Best Picture 2008 "Atonement". It is about a little girl that has acussed her sister's boyfriend of rapeing her best friend and lies about it to make them detach so he could come to her. When she grows up, she admits the truth to her sister that her best friend was raped by a family friend. But it was too late because he spent a long time in jail. This movie was okay. I had to watch the begining again to get the movie but it didn't really succsed my expectations. I am glad it didn't get the Best Picture know. I give is 2 1/2 stars and Rent it.
