Hello again! With the year coming to an end, the movies have one last chance to get the name on ballads for awards. Many getting buzz right now include The Social Network, Toy Story 3, Inception, The Kids are all Right, The King’s Speech, Black Swann, True Grit, and The Town. My personal favorites are Alice in Wonderland, Date Night, Robin Hood, Toy Story 3, Easy A, and my first movie that I am reviewing today.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the beginning of the end of this beloved series. Lord Voldemort is growing stronger and more powerful and is out to kill Harry Potter. With his life in danger, the Order of the Phoenix must protect Harry at all cost even if it will risk their own lives. Harry does not wish to see people dying for him now, so Harry, Ron, and Herminie go out to find Voldemort’s holocrauxs that contain the pieces of his soul. If all are found and destroyed, Voldemort can be killed. Meanwhile, a death eater has become the new Minister of Magic and is removing all mud bloods from the ministry and has a bounty for Harry. I really love this series and I liked this movie too. It still isn’t my favorite of the series because I didn’t like how a majority of the film was just Harry and Herminie in the woods. But I did enjoy that past favorite characters returned including Dobby, Kreacher, Umbridge, Lucis Malfoy, and many others. I liked the action scenes and I really liked the story of the Deathly Hallows how that was animated. I give it 4 stars and See it!
My next movie is "Morning Glory". It is about a woman played by Rachel McAdams that has always dreamed of producing a morning talk show. She gets the job of Executive Producing a failing show "Daybreak". She fires a co-host and replaces him with Harrison Ford's character, a biter award winning journalist. She does all she can to bring the show back to glory while have a relationship with a co worker. This was an okay movie. I don't know why people call it a romantic comedy because romance is about a 16th of the movie. It is more of a Job movie where you learn what people have to go through everyday. I liked it, it had it's comedic parts but it had it's serious moments too. I thought the first hour was boring but is sped right up. I think it deserves a Goplden Globe nominaton for Comedy and Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdam's performances. I give it 4 stars and a See it!
Speaking of Harrison Ford, he was in a movie "Extraordinary Measures" in January and it is available on DVD now. It is about a real life man played by Brennan Frasier that has two kids with a incurable disease that only lets kids live until they are 9 years old. He finds a doctor that is working on medicine for the dieses (played by Harrison Ford). They raise alot of money and start a research lab trying all they can do to get a cure. But with time running out for his oldest child, the doctor and him get in a big argument about the pressure and how he is doing all he can. I thought this movie was very slow and not as amazing as I thought it was going to be. It was very powerful but it just bored me and didn't have any excitement to it. I give it 3 1/2 stars and a Rent it.
And a new movie coming next year with Harrison Ford in it is "Cowboys and Aliens". At first when I saw the trailer for this, I thought it was True Grit coming out in December but I saw Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and then a spaceship. This is a western Sc-Fi film that looks like Razzie gold (the awards for the worst movies). I think the whole concept seems stupid and weird and you can't take a movie seriously when you call it Cowboys and Aliens. My anticipation level: 1 out of 10.
